Specifically, we focus on various challenges in transformers, transmission lines, and power flow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>EE603: Engineering Optimization<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Unconstrained and constrained optimization problems. Convex sets, functions, analysis, and optimization problems. Least-squares, linear, and quadratic programs. Optimality conditions, duality theory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall 2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>EE310: Electric Circuits II<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Transient and frequency response of RLC circuits. Mutual inductance, network analysis using Laplace transformations, network functions, stability, convolution integrals, Bode diagrams, two-port networks, and computer analysis of circuits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>EE581: Power System Dynamics<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The steady-state economic operation and control, as well as transient stability of the power system, are covered in this course. Knowledge of the theory and practice of fault analysis, voltage control, and transient stability methods is a requirement for the design and verification of power system engineers. The objective of the course is to introduce students to the theory and practice of power system dynamics and its integration into power system operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>EE596: Renewable Energy and Smart Grid<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Renewable energy is widely recognized in power and related industry as the future of electric power. Knowledge of theory and practice of formal methods is becoming a requirement for design and verification engineers. The objective of the course is to introduce students to the theory and practice of renewable energy and its integration to the smart grid. The integration of renewable and distributed energy resources raises several challenges and brings several opportunities in the operation of a modernized grid.
